The First Edition-this album being a compilation of images which appeared individually as cigarette cards, issued by Duke and Sons. Brief biographical sketches of an Admiral and 49 Generals ( North and South) with accompanying richly printed Chromolithographic portrait,imprinted two per page. 4 additional full page Chromolithographs depicting ; Monitor and Merrimac Battle, The Commanders (Grant and Lee), Battle of Gettysburg and The Battle of Manassas ( 2nd Bull Run). Oblong 4to. 10.5"x6.75". Bound in half cloth and Chromolithographic pictorial flexible boards.

Subjects detail Union and Confederate Commanders including:

Mild, sporadic staining to covers, with crease to bottom corner of front cover. Rear cover presents light chipping to edges with a 1"x1.5" piece of the bottom corner lacking. Chromolithographs are remarkably well preserved, still retaining their jaw-dropping deep luminescence. A bright, crisp copy.
