Handsomely bound in full diced calfskin. Blind embossed decorative boarders to covers. Gilt ruled spine compartments with blind embossed and gilt tooled motifs. Gilt tooled raised bands. Gilt titled morocco labels.
Robert Fabyan (died 1513), chronicler, was born in London, of which he became an Alderman and Sheriff. He kept a diary of notable events, which he expanded into a chronicle entitled, The Concordance of Histories. It covers the period from the arrival of Brutus in England to the death of through the reign of Elizabeth I , and deals mainly with the affairs of London. It was first published in 1515, with the title of The New Chronicles of England and France.
Volume has been fastidiously rebacked to lavish effect. Covers moderately rubbed with some darkening and blemishes. Professionally re-enforced corners gently bumped. Usual minor scattered foxing and offset. A very attractive, extremely bright and crisp copy.
